| Condenser Tech Tips |
When
using the 134a refrigerant, 12"W x 22"H condensers with 3/8"
tubes are not recommended as they will not allow the system to work
at peak efficiency. |
The
condenser should be mounted no more than 1/2" from the
core of the radiator in order for the condenser to take advantage of
the engine cooling fan. |
Condenser
tubes should be mounted in a horizontal orientation. Mounting
the tubes vertically will cause the collection of refrigerant oil in
the lower elbows. This will create excessive head pressure that could
lead to system damage. |
It
is not recommended that nylon pull tabs be used to mount the
condenser to the radiator. These tabs put stress on the core of the
radiator and can cause damage to the radiator with engine vibration. |
For
the condenser to work at optimum efficiency, it must have a
constant source of fresh air. Mounting the condenser under the vehicle
will not allow for this supply of air since it must work with warm air
from the engine compartment and pavement. THus, remote condensers should
only be used in situations where a conventionally mounted condenser
is absolutely not possible. |
